It's true, there is no one-size-fits-all skincare routine for men. However, that doesn't mean finding the right routine for your skin type is impossible. In fact, with a little bit of research, you can easily find a skincare routine that will work best for you.
If you have dry skin, for example, you'll want to focus on products that hydrate and nourish the skin. On the other hand, if you have oily skin, you'll want to look for products that help to control oil production, and if you have sensitive skin you'll need to be extra careful about choosing products that won't irritate your skin. The bottom line is that there is a skincare routine out there that's perfect for YOU and here we share our expert tips based on the common skin types.

Dry / Sensitive skin routine
For men with dry to sensitive skin, it is all about keeping the moisture high and using products in a routine that revive and rehydrate your skin while not going too overboard with many products. Incorporating a good hydrating moisturiser could be one of the best decisions you can ever make. Below are some easy steps to follow, to turn your dry / sensitive skin around to hydrated, irritated free skin.
Step 1. Always wash your face with water and a moisturising face wash. Try and steer clear away from chemical style cleansers or toners as they tend to dry your skin out even more, and so can promote irritation. A moisturising face wash should leave your skin feeling refreshed and not dry and tight. Rinse your face off and pat dry with a clean towel.
Step 2. Secondly, apply moisturiser. A secret weapon for keeping your skin younger, that you may not have known you had at your disposal. Moisturising can help give your skin the boost it needs to repair itself and stay healthy. Here at Tony & Munro we happen to have an amazing Moisturiser & Primer to add to your routine. It hydrates and primes your skin while filling in fine lines and smoothing your pores, leaving your face with a radiant matte finish. Particularly great if you have typically oily skin, but also gentle enough for those with sensitive skin.
Step 3. Thirdly, if you get dry skin then you know full well about the itchy eyes situation, so don't forget to add in an eye cream or gel after you moisturise as well. Our Tony & Munro Eye Gel can help with just that, as it revives and hydrates the sensitive skin around the eye area and reduces any redness caused from dryness. Like a moisturiser, you can leave this to sink into the skin and enjoy the benefits of regular use.

Step 4. Last but not least, using SPF anywhere your skin is exposed to sunlight, will not only protect you from UV rays, but it will also reduce the effects of the sun drying out your skin and ageing. Apply an SPF like Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Water Gel SPF, on your face and décolletage (from your neck to the start of your chest) for your normal days out and about. It glides smoothly and offers 8 hours of hydration. Water based products like this will eliminate any irritation some other SPF’s may cause.
Normal / Oily skin routine
For men with normal skin who never tend to have any problems and don't need much, you should stick to the basics. Those who have oily skin, should stick to the basics too, as less is more when your skin already over-produces oils. All you need are three simple products: a cleanser, a moisturiser, a non oily sunscreen and of course, water.
Step 1: Washing your face in the morning and night is the number one best thing you can do to start off your basic routine. It removes any dirt, oil and impurities that have accumulated on your skin overnight or from the work day. It also prepares your skin for the rest of your skincare routine. Always remember to pat dry with a clean towel.
Step 2: Now that you have a clean face, apply a small amount of cleanser to your face and massage it into your skin in circular motions. Oily skin can be more prone to producing pimples due to grease seeping into your pores. A great cleanser for normal to oily skin is the CeraVe Foaming Cleaner, as it protects the skin's natural barrier, not adding any extra nasties.
Step 3: Rinse off with lukewarm water and pat your face dry with a clean towel.
Step 4: Apply moisturiser to your face and décolletage. The Tony & Munro Shine Control Moisturiser & Primer of course. Again, due to it being a matte finish it does not add any extra oil to your face. Gently massage it into your skin until it is fully absorbed.

Step 5: Finally, apply a generous amount of sunscreen to your face (if you are just starting your day). An everyday non oily and break out free SPF, as it will not clog your pores or feel greasy on your skin.Â
Following these simple steps will help ensure that your skin continues to stay healthy, hydrated and oil free.
