Power Ingredients used in our products

Argan Oil used in our Shine Control Moisturiser & Primer is native to Morocco and is derived from the Kernels of the Argan tree fruit. High in Antioxidants, Vitamin E and anti-inflammatory properties, this power ingredient is key in supporting overall skin health, cell function and skin repair from sun damage and toxins in the environment. Argan Oil can also help reduce the signs of ageing, by increasing skin elasticity and moisture content (hydration), decreasing fine lines and scars. Source: Healthline.

Aloe Leaf Extract featured in our Moisturiser & Primer is widely known for its moisturising and hydrating benefits. Aloe Vera also has antibacterial, antiviral, and antiseptic properties to help boost overall skin health and healthy cell production.

Aloe Extract is also effective in treating sun damage and scars – and has been proven to slow the signs of ageing. Aloe helps improve skin integrity by retaining moisture which in turn increases Collagen production and skin elasticity, which also helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Calendula Flower Extractalso included in our Moisturiser & Primer has antifungal, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties and is used in skincare products to help reduce inflammation and support new tissue growth. It’s moisture rich and is helpful for relieving eczema and other dry skin conditions. Calendula can also help to plump your skin, giving you tighter, firmer more supple skin – while at the same time forming a natural barrier to help preserve Collagen and Elastin contained within your skin. Camellia (White Tea) Leaf Extract is the oil sourced from the leaves of tea plants (black, green, oolong, and white tea). Featured in our Moisturiser & Primer, it’s naturally rich in Antioxidants, Caffeine and Vitamin B, but also contains anti-inflammatory properties. The Antioxidants can protect your skin from Sun damage which leads to premature ageing.

The Caffeine can help reduce cellulite and the Vitamin B helps to treat signs of ageing and alleviate sensitive skin. Overall Camellia Leaf Extract increases blood flow to the skin and encourages skin elasticity, hydration and density, which also helps to heal scars. Importantly Camellia Leaf Extract also decreases excess Sebum production. Sebum is your skin’s natural oil and excess production can lead to an oily face. Source: Healthline.

Chondrus Crispus Extract (CCE), also known as ‘red algae’, is a rich source of nutrients, mineral salts, amino acids, vitamins and antioxidants, which helps your skin to stay hydrated whilst visibly improving your skin’s appearance. Used in our Moisturiser & Primer, CCE also forms a long-lasting protective barrier that helps to protect your skin from outside environmental toxins, whilst reducing water loss and providing a ‘slow release’ effect to other active ingredients applied on top.

Easily absorbed into your skin, it also contains moisturising, anti-ageing and anti-inflammatory properties, leaving you with a soothing, smooth and hydrated feeling. Source: Paula’s ChoiceINCI DecoderMediterranean Spirit.

Hyaluronic Acidused in our Eye Gel, is a naturally occurring molecule that can hold up to a thousand times its weight in water. Attracting moisture to itself, Hyaluronic Acid helps to promote skin’s natural Collagen and elasticity, which in turn helps reduce the signs of ageing.

Easily absorbed, Hyaluronic Acid retains moisture, trapping it under your skin, reducing water loss (dehydration) and helping diminish fine lines and wrinkles, keeping you looking younger for longer. Our Eye Gel contains ‘Sodium Hyaluronate’. Sodium Hyaluronate is a soluble salt form of Hyaluronic Acid. The terms ‘Hyaluronic Acid’ and ‘Sodium Hyaluronate’ can be used interchangeably.

Matrixyl® synthe’6™included in our Eye Gel, is a relaxing agent that helps produce visibly smoother, plumper skin. It’s a Peptide that stimulates the production of healthy skin cells, several collagen types and Hyaluronic Acid.

The result is that healthy skin cells develop with ‘body’ from under your sub-dermal layer pushing up from within, smoothing out and filling-in fine lines and wrinkles, helping you to look younger.

Niacinamideincorporated into our Eye Gel, is a type of Vitamin B-3 and is a naturally occurring substance that your body produces. Niacinamide helps to build your skin’s natural proteins and helps to create a lipid barrier, which is your skin’s natural outer surface oil layer, helping to balance oil production and at the same time lock in moisture to soften fine lines and wrinkles. This in turn promotes skin immunity and general skin health.

Niacinamide also reduces or tightens pores (providing that reassuring tightening feeling), keeping dirt and excess oil on the surface of your skin where it belongs – and as such is a key ingredient for managing acne, rosacea, pigmentation and blemish concerns, giving your skin a natural glow.

MariMoist®, sometimes referred to as “Aloe from the Ocean” is another powerful hydration agent, derived from marine algae. This powerful ingredient, contained in our Hydrating Eye Gel, is a moisturising, healing, protecting, softening and texturing agent all in one, that promotes healthy tissue production.

MariMoist® contains within it, a significant amount of water and so when used on your face, promotes youthful looking skin by instantly hydrating, cooling and softening – helping to refresh, giving your skin ‘body’ and in turn reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

Eyeseryl®is a Terapeptide, featured in our Eye Gel, which helps to decongest the area under the eyes. It permeates the skin promoting capillary circulation, elasticity (by about 30% over a month) and reduces dullness, creating a bright healthy look. Eyeseryl® has been proven to reduce puffiness under the eyes in as little as 15 days.

Kakadu Plumfeaturing in our BB Cream, is a small green fruit found typically in the ‘outback’ in Northern Australia. In our Indigenous communities, it’s also known as ‘Billygoat’ or ‘Bush Wattle’ plum and is used in traditional medicines. Kakadu Plum, however, is most famous for its high concentration of Vitamin C. In fact, it’s the richest source of vitamin C of any fruit or food in the world. It also contains a high concentration of Antioxidants (Source: Healthline), which is why it’s classified as one of Australia’s superfoods.

At Tony & Munro, we use Kakadu Plum extract (or oil) in our Nourishing BB Cream for the many benefits Vitamin C and Antioxidants bring to skin health.

Cool fact: Did you know that Kakadu plum contains 100 x the vitamin C of an orange and 13 x the antioxidants of a blueberries. Cool huh! (Source: Healthline & The Australian Superfood Co.).

How does Kakadu Plum work? The high concentration of Vitamin C in Kakadu Plum extract helps promote skin elasticity, by stimulating Collagen production, which encourages firmer / plumper skin and helps reduce fine lines and scars – which in turn helps reduce visible signs of ageing and brings a natural glow to the skin.

Antioxidants can also repair skin damage caused by the Sun – and help neutralize ‘Free Radicals’ which are linked to poor general health and skin-health conditions, caused by stress and environmental toxins (Source: Healthline).

What skin type/concerns is Kakadu Plum best suited to? Kakadu Plum’s strengths are helping with dry, damaged and prematurely aged skin for its healing and restorative properties. As an ‘Essential Oil’ it can help restore your skin’s protective layer, sealing in moisture and encouraging the production of natural oils like Sebum. However, Kakadu Plum extract and other ‘Essential Oils’ shouldn’t just be used as a solve for bad skin conditions.

That’s why we’ve blended Kakadu Plum extract into our BB Cream, which not only nourishes and hydrates skin daily, but provides SPF 30 protection, smooths out redness and blemishes and provides a flawless, light and natural glow.

When should you use Kakadu Plum – preventative vs cure? In short, every day and every night if you can. Whilst Vitamin C works to promote skin elasticity and antioxidants can help flush out toxins as a ‘treatment’ for damaged skin, daily use can help strengthen already healthy skin, keeping you looking younger for longer.

Longer term use can also help treat blemishes and spots, restoring your skin and helping you to feel confident with the skin you’re in, everyday.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the Eye Gel tighten, tingle or sometimes sting?

Short answer is it’s the active ingredients doing their job. The tightening feeling comes from the Niacinamide reducing or tightening pores, keeping dirt and excess oil on the surface of your skin where it belongs. The tingling feeling is the Matrixyl® synthe’6™, which is a relaxing agent – and the slight stinging you may feel is the hyaluronic acid connecting with dry, damaged or raw skin.

This can sometimes happen if you’ve been out in the sun or wind, have used an exfoliant or if you’ve used strong products on your skin that encourage cell regeneration, like a peel or a Retinol based product. Don’t worry, it should only last a few seconds. You should then start to feel the cooling and softening benefits of the MariMoist® and in 15 days or less (after use daily) start to see the benefits of the Eyeseryl® as the puffiness under your eyes just fades away.

What Does 'Skincare That Looks Good' Mean?

We realise that feeling confident can come from looking and feeling your best and that sometimes traditional skincare products just don’t cut it. Sometimes you need just a bit of colour, to conceal those dark circles or blemishes and sometimes you need that something extra to help you look brighter, more even toned, a little bit more tanned or just that little bit more fabulous than you already are.

That’s why we’ve created Tony & Munro. Weather you’re after an Eye Gel to reduce those puffy eyes, a Concealer to hide those dark circles or acne spot for your next date or a BB Cream (avail in light, mid and dark shades) to make you look more… well alive, we’ve got you covered. See the results for yourself.

HOW DO I USE THE CONCEALER?

Hot Tip – You shouldn’t overwork your concealer… squeeze it, tap it and leave it! The fact is, not all concealers are created equal. We’ve put a lot of thought and care into creating our Concealer, to make it a full coverage yet lightweight, non-greasy, matte finish formula.

The Tony & Munro Correcting Concealer is a skin colour Correcting Concealer and it should be primarily used for addressing problem areas like red-skin undertones across your T-zone and around your nose, or rosacea on your cheeks, or dark circles under your eyes (not for use all over your face).

However, the more you tap, rub or play with your concealer, the more you will dry it out and dilute it, making it thinner and less likely to provide even coverage and/or blend with what you put on your skin next. So guys, squeeze a little onto your finger tips (a little goes a long way), tap it onto your face – not all over – just the affected areas, and leave it! If done right, the Correcting Concealer will provide full coverage of red skin and dark circles with a bright, natural finish.

We recommend you then apply something over the top, like our Nourishing BB Cream, to blend with and bring a more even tone to your skin.

WHAT IS A SKIN COLOUR CORRECTING CONCEALER VS A COVERING CONCEALER?

Generally speaking, in the world of Concealers there are two types – Correcting and Covering. The Tony & Munro Correcting Concealer is a skin colour Correcting Concealer used for correcting red-skin undertones or dark circles under your eyes. It’s usually a lighter shade than your BB Cream or Foundation (that you’ll then apply over the top) and can even have a yellow or green tinge to it (to cover up reds, blues or purples). We recommend applying our Nourishing BB Cream over the top, to blend with our Correcting Concealer, bringing an even tone to your skin.

Covering Concealers, which are your more common type of concealers, are used for covering up spots or blemishes after you’ve applied your BB Cream or Foundation. They typically have more of a pink, peach or brown tinge and are usually the same shade or a bit darker than your BB Cream or Foundation. It’s worked-in over to top of any visible blemishes… or tapped gently, to blend into the BB Cream or Foundation you’ve applied, concealing away the spot you want to cover up.

WHY ARE OUR PRODUCTS MADE SPECIFICALLY FOR MEN’S SKIN?

Men’s skin is thicker – about 25%, it’s oilier and we have larger pores (and more of them). So, at Tony & Munro, we’ve created our products to be more absorbent and non-greasy, delivering a matte finish – and the power ingredient Niacinamide in our Eye Gel even reduces and tightens pores.

The Kakadu Plum extract in our Nourishing BB Cream absorbs deep into your skin, providing a Vitamin C boost, which promotes elasticity and reduces the signs of ageing – and all of our products are lightweight and easy to apply, whilst providng full, even and lasting coverage to help get you through your busy day.

Our Hero Spotlight – BB Cream

What’s the difference between a BB Cream and a Tinted Moisturiser?

Tinted Moisturisers are well, just that… moisturisers with a tint! They provide hydration whilst offering some colour to help give your skin a more even tone. They offer little more in the way of protective or restorative (except for what’s in the moisturiser) benefits, but they are usually light weight and can provide a good base for applying other products (inc. Foundation) on top.

BB or Blemish Balm Creams are your go to daily all-in-one product. They are designed to be a moisturiser, a sunscreen and provide more than just a basic tint. Offering restorative and protective benefits, BB Creams further help to smooth and balance your complexion, giving you a more even toned fresh look.

The Tony & Munro Nourishing BB Cream also contains Kakadu Plum, a natural Australian indigenous ingredient, rich in Vitamin C and Antioxidants. The Vitamin C helps to promote skin elasticity, by stimulating Collagen production, which encourages firmer / plumper skin and helps reduce fine lines and scars.

How much BB Cream do I apply?

You don’t have to layer it on to get more SPF coverage, but you can for extra blemish coverage.

Now this really is our hero all-in-one product. It’s a moisturiser, with a tint and it’s SPF 30. It’s a lightweight formula that comes in three shades and has a natural indigenous botanical, Kakadu Plum, enriching your skin with Vitamin C and Antioxidants. It moisturises, protects and provides even tone coverage, all at the same time.

Apply a little to your fingertips and tap all over your face, then gently massage it into your skin and blend it into your hair and beard line (if you have one). That’s it. A little goes a long way and provides a refreshed look, but you can also layer it (apply just a little more), for fuller blemish coverage, if needed. Either will help to smooth and balance your complexion, giving your skin a more even tone.

BLEND TWO SHADES OF BB CREAM TOGETHER TO FIND YOUR PERFECT SHADE

We currently have three shades in our BB Cream range – Light, Mid and Dark. Generally speaking, three shades should suffice, however, we understand that your skin tone might not match one of these three shades exactly. Here’s what you can do – you can either layer your BB Cream for a darker coverage or blend two shades together to find your perfect colour match.

When applying your BB Cream, you should always start with less. Place a small amount on your fingertips and tap onto your forehead and cheeks. Then massage into your skin, blending into your hair and beard line (if you have one). With our lightweight, non-greasy matte finish formula, a little goes a long way. If you feel like you need more colour or darker coverage, repeat the process. It’s always easier to add more than remove it.

If you still can’t find your perfect colour match, you can blend two shades of BB Cream together to create a shade that’s right for you. Simply pump out a small amount of both shades onto the back of your hand, blend with your fingers and apply sparingly.

Contact us at hello@tonyandmunro.com and our friendly Customer Service team will arrange to send you some samples, so you can test the shades at home for yourself.

Washing your face daily is important to help remove excess oil and dirt from your skin and pores. All of our products easily wash off with water. The Benefits of Using a Primer

The Tony & Munro Shine Control Moisturiser & Primer hydrates and prepares skin, filling in fine lines and smoothing pores, with a radiant matte finish.

Using a Primer before other product application helps create a smooth base; evens out skin tone; reduces flaws, inflammation and redness; hydrates and nourishes skin; reduces oil and shine; helps fill in wrinkles and fine lines; and makes pores appear smaller.

Any product you apply on top, like our Correcting Concealer or Nourishing BB Cream will apply smoothly and blend easily – plus it will help prevent your other products rubbing off or smearing.

A Primer also gives any cosmetic products something to hold onto and helps them to last much longer, to see you though your day. Source: sheknows.com

Benefits of SPF for Summer

Moving into Summer, not only is the weather changing, but it brings with it a change in the intensity of the sun’s rays, so whilst you should be wearing a daily SPF all year round, we really can’t stress enough the importance of adding an SPF into your daily routine, even more in the hotter months.

SPF is by default an anti-ageing product, as exposure to the sun can cause your skin to age prematurely, leaving you with damaged, wrinkled and tough skin. Not to mention the dangers of skin cancer. Don’t think of your heavy, thick, zinc based, traditional greasy SPF creams here (yuck)! That’s old school. All you need is a light SPF 30 to get you through the day, as it blocks out about 97% of the sun’s UV rays.

Our Renew Nourishing SPF 30 BB Cream (available in three shades) is your daily skincare routine in a bottle. This lightweight all-in-one cream not only helps to protect your skin against the sun’s harsh UVA & UVB rays, but moisturises your skin, helps to cover fine lines, reduce redness and dark circles, evens and smooths your complexion and promotes skin elasticity, with the Kakadu Plum extract – the world’s richest source of Vitamin C – all with a matte finish.

Also, our SPF 30 BB Cream doesn’t contain Oxybenzone and Octinoxate, chemicals typically found in SPF products, which have been proven to cause damage to our coral reefs. So, when you purchase from Tony & Munro you know you’re not only looking after your skin but the environment as well.
